New PAC-Shield CV Roof Vent Improves Efficiency, Extends Roof Life

Petersen expands it PAC-CLAD line of architectural metal cladding systems with the launch of its new PAC-Shield CV roof venting system. PAC-Shield CV is a ventilated composite insulation panel that includes a 4x8-ft. layer of closed-cell rigid polyisocyanurate, integrated solid wood spacers that create a standard 1-in. air gap, and a top layer of APA/TECO-rated OSB or plywood. The venting system is designed to improve energy efficiency, prevent ice dams, extend the lifespan of a roof and control moisture in steep-slope roof systems.

The new PAC-Shield CV helps keep building interiors cooler in the summer by reducing heat transfer, and adds insulation in the winter to lower energy costs. Ideal for use with metal roofs, slate, tile and shingles, the venting system maintains consistent roof temperatures to prevent the melt-and-freeze cycle that causes ice dams. It also promotes healthy airflow, reduces trapped moisture and supports better indoor air quality while meeting many building code requirements for ventilation and energy efficiency.

PAC-Shield CV is recommended on steep-slope applications of 3:12 or greater. The PAC-Shield CV venting system can be used with a variety of finished roof assemblies including all types and weights of metal roof systems. Many times, some type of ventilation under the roof system is required for a variety of reasons. If air is allowed to flow under the roof system the temperature on the roof will remain cooler and more consistent thus reducing oil canning and other issues. For slopes less than this, PAC-Shield Nail Base non-vented nailable polyiso insulation panel is recommended.

  • Spacer block positioning is visually marked for ease of fastener placement
  • Wood edges are rabbited to provide for expansion and contraction while allowing the foam edges to be installed tightly to achieve thermal integrity across the entire roof deck
