Architectural Excellence

Located in the heart of Barcelona’s major urban transformation, this Primary Care Center stands beside the future Intermodal Hub of La Sagrera — designed to serve over 100 million passengers annually. More than a health facility, it is conceived as a civic landmark, seamlessly integrated into the new network of public spaces and buildings.

Its façade redefines rhythm through galvanized steel, alternating two textures — Deployé and Minionda — to balance monumentality and human scale. Vertical Minionda panels emphasize height, while modulated Deployé elements ground the building within the urban fabric.

Inside, bright white finishes maximize natural light, creating luminous, uplifting interiors that enhance well-being for patients and staff.

This project embodies functionality and innovation, positioning healthcare architecture as a catalyst for urban regeneration, sustainability, and human-centered design.

Technical Innovation & Sustainability

In response to the urgent needs of a rapidly growing neighborhood, the building was completed in just five months from groundbreaking — a milestone only achievable through off-site modular construction. This method not only met the demanding timeline but also ensured a high-quality, sustainable solution.

The irregular size and shape of the plot imposed strict spatial constraints. Prefabrication was embraced from the start as the most efficient and adaptable option, enabling an optimized spatial organization. The building is structured around a central core — housing access, reception, administration, and an education room — from which linear corridors extend to consultation areas and waiting rooms. This intuitive design enhances accessibility for the elderly and patients with diverse cognitive or spatial abilities, creating an inclusive and user-friendly healthcare environment.

Cost Effectiveness

From its conception, the building was designed as a temporary, demountable facility, with modular elements that can be dismantled and reused in other locations. This forward-looking approach maximizes long-term value and reduces waste.

Industrialized prefabrication ensured speed, precision, and cost control, while tailored medical modules addressed the strict technical requirements of healthcare spaces. With healthcare demand steadily increasing in Spain, the project demonstrates how flexible modular systems can deliver high-quality medical services today, while maintaining the ability to adapt, relocate, and scale for future needs.
