Award Criteria

Architectural Excellence

This modular complex features a cohesive layout with interconnected, covered walkways and a compact footprint, creating the feel of a unified structure. Each unit provides ample, well-designed space for classrooms, administrative offices, and a cafeteria, supporting full school operations. Positioned on a previously unused baseball field and tennis courts, the complex minimizes site impact while incorporating flood-rated footings and elevated walkways, showcasing architectural excellence through resilient planning and efficient space use.

Technical Innovation & Sustainability

By leveraging offsite construction for both modular buildings and custom walkways/canopies, we met tight occupancy deadlines efficiently. Offsite fabrication streamlined installation, allowing a fast, precise setup with minimal on-site adjustments. This offsite approach enabled the client to complete the necessary infrastructure—electrical, sewer, and water connections—while preparing the site. In parallel, the district installed a playground that remained unaffected by the modular setup.

Cost Effectiveness

This project prioritized cost-effectiveness by utilizing relocatable modular buildings and sectional walkways. These structures are designed for quick, easy disassembly once the new school is complete, allowing both the classrooms and ramps to be reused for future projects. By leasing rather than purchasing full buildings and ramps, the client minimized upfront expenses, achieving a high-quality interim solution that’s both budget-friendly and adaptable to future needs.
