MBI provides services and promotes professionalism through communication, education, and recognition. Dedicated to enhancing the future growth of the industry, MBI encourages innovation and quality among its members.

To be the recognized, authoritative, and global “Voice of Commercial Modular Construction.”

:: Our History

Founded in 1983, the Modular Building Institute is a non-profit trade association serving the commercial factory-built buildings industry on an international scale. Our regular members are manufacturers and dealers of commercial modular structures, while our associate members are companies supplying building components, services, and financing. It is MBI’s mission to grow the industry and its capabilities by encouraging innovation, quality, and professionalism through communication, education, and recognition.

:: Our Governance

The MBI is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of a minimum of ten persons elected by and from the regular and associate membership.

Committees formed by volunteer members of the Board of Directors, and may include members at large, with a Chair appointed by the President. These groups focus on short term, specific needs of the Association and membership, generally responding to emerging issues and trends.

Through its enforceable Code of Business Ethics & Conduct, MBI promotes integrity and quality in the modular industry by having their member subscribe to the MBI Code of Business Ethics & Conduct.
