Project Overview

In 2024, the Manchester Public School system faced a daunting challenge: how to modernize its facilities without disrupting education for thousands of students. Triumph Modular's solution was both innovative and efficient: installing 72 modular units across six schools. These included 56 classrooms spanning 59,730 square feet, accommodating up to 910 students, and 16 additional units for offices and meeting spaces.

Timeline

The project mobilized June 1, 2024, with the delivery of the first modular unit. Over the summer months, a rolling schedule ensured steady progress. By August 28, just before the start of the school year, all units were fully installed and operational.

Scope of Work

Triumph Modular's responsibilities were comprehensive:

  • Preparing foundations for modular units.
  • Installing units with precision.
  • Connecting essential utilities such as electricity, HVAC systems, lighting, and data networks.

This meticulous attention to detail ensured that each classroom was fully functional from day one.

Collaboration

Key partnerships played a pivotal role in the project's success:

  • The Manchester School District provided strategic oversight.
  • Consigli Construction managed site preparations.
  • Triumph Modular delivered and installed modular classrooms.

This collaborative approach enabled all stakeholders to address challenges effectively while focusing on the end goal.

Challenges and Solutions

Executing this project required navigating several logistical hurdles:

  1. Tight Deadlines: With only three months between delivery commencement and school reopening, time was a critical factor. Triumph Modular's rolling delivery schedule allowed simultaneous installation work at multiple sites.
  2. Utility Integration: Connecting utilities across six schools demanded careful coordination. The team's expertise in modular construction ensured seamless integration without delays.
  3. Safety Standards: Maintaining safety across multiple active sites was paramount. Triumph's adherence to OSHA standards and rigorous supervision minimized risks.

The team overcame these challenges by leveraging their collective experience and innovative thinking while maintaining high-quality results.

Impact on Education

The use of modular classrooms had an immediate positive impact on the Manchester School District:

Continuity: The modular units allowed up to 1,000 students to continue their education uninterrupted during renovations.

Modern Facilities: These classrooms, fully equipped with lighting, HVAC systems, and data networks, provided an optimal learning environment.

Flexibility: The phased renovation strategy ensured minimal disruption while addressing long-term infrastructure needs.

This project demonstrated how modular construction can be a flexible solution for large-scale educational transformations.

Beyond Manchester: Expanding Horizons

Triumph Modular's success in Manchester wasn't an isolated achievement. In parallel with this project, they also contributed to Nashoba Valley Technical High School's (NVTHS) expansion.

NVTHS Expansion Highlights

  • A new wing housing four interconnected programs; Programming & Web Development, Engineering Technology, Robotics, and Advanced Manufacturing—was completed in just four months.
  • Thoughtful design elements included ADA-accessible ramps and a heated connector linking the new addition to existing facilities.
  • Collaboration between NVTHS staff and Triumph Modular ensured smooth execution despite tight timelines.

This expansion underscores Triumph Modular's ability to deliver cutting-edge solutions for diverse educational needs.

The summer of 2024 proved to be a pivotal period for Triumph Modular's Construction Services team, characterized by unprecedented growth and achievement. This season stood out as a milestone in the company's history, distinguished by three key factors:

  1. Project Volume: The team handled an exceptional number of projects, showcasing their capacity to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  2. Project Complexity: The assignments undertaken during this period were notably more intricate and challenging than previous endeavors, demonstrating the team's enhanced capabilities and expertise
  3. Overall Value: The cumulative worth of the projects completed or initiated during the summer of 2024 reached new heights, indicating a significant increase in the scale and importance of Triumph Modular's operations.

This combination of increased quantity, heightened complexity, and elevated value of projects signified a transformative phase for Triumph Modular, solidifying their position in the industry and setting a new standard for their future expansion

This expansion underscores Triumph Modular's ability to deliver cutting-edge solutions for diverse educational needs.

The Future

As schools across the Eastern United States face growing infrastructure demands, Triumph Modular stands ready to provide flexible solutions that prioritize quality, safety, and efficiency, ensuring that education remains uninterrupted even during times of transformation.

As Triumph navigates this period of expansion and continued growth in new regions, its primary focus remains twofold: unwavering dedication to its employees' well-being and maintaining a customer-centric approach in all operations. More from Modular Advantage

Homes as Essential Infrastructure

The housing crisis is nothing new. Across the world, federal, state, and municipal governments of all sizes are struggling with how to provide more affordable housing—quickly—to those who need it. In Canada, Paul Halucha, Deputy Minister of Housing, Infrastructure, and Communities Canada (HICC), argues that the federal role in housing has shifted from funding at arm’s length to actively shaping outcomes.

Building the Future, Offsite

In the face of a national housing crisis, England stands at a critical inflection point where innovation, scale, and public-private partnerships must converge to meet an urgent need: more homes, and fast. Homes England is helping reshape the housing market by actively supporting MMC through a strategic blend of land development, financing, and grants.

How POJI and MOKO Are Industrializing Modular Construction Through Automated Engineering Systems

Working with Scandinavian Industrialized Building System (SIBS), POJI and MOKO helped realize a modular city concept located in Järfälla municipality of Stockholm, Sweden, with 350 apartments, communal areas, restaurants, small shops, and a preschool in a pleasant mix with experiential architecture and greenery.

Inside Boutique Modern’s Mission to Make First Homes Affordable and Efficient in The U.K.

The U.K.-based firm has been in business for 12 years, manufacturing houses for both private clients and local government, with a large chunk of its business coming from “affordable” and social housing. Working in a 32,000 square-foot factory in Newhaven, Sussex, Boutique Modern is changing decades-old thinking about constructing houses, all through the use of modular.

BoulderMOD: Producing Affordable Modular Homes While Training the Workforce of the Future

Colorado has been hit with a double whammy—a decline in the number of skilled construction workers and an increased need for affordable housing. BoulderMOD, a partnership among the city of Boulder, Flatirons Habitat for Humanity, and Boulder Valley School District, is tackling both problems and helping others do the same.

Guerdon: Seeking the ‘Holy Grail’ of Modular Construction

Guerdon, a modular manufacturer in Boise, Idaho, recently won what Laurence (Lad) Dawson, CEO and Managing Partner, describes as the ‘holy grail’ for a modular manufacturer. The RFP calls for a pipeline of six projects, totaling approximately 570
units.

State of Modular in 2025: Facing Reality

The critical and urgent reality is that the modular industry needs to open the doors to collaboration across all sectors. The sooner we stare down these challenges, the sooner we can welcome a new reality where modular is the dominant way to deliver housing for better performance, quality and all at a lower cost.

Sealed for Success: The Role of Waterproofing in Modular Construction

Water is one of the biggest threats to any building, causing structural damage, mold growth, and costly repairs if not properly managed. Waterproofing is the first line of defense, ensuring durability and long-term performance. As construction methods evolve, so do waterproofing solutions – moving beyond traditional coatings to advanced, factory-ready systems.

From Volume to Velocity: Scaling Multi-Family Projects Without Losing Control

When projects grow too fast without the right systems, factories run into problems. They miss deadlines, crews burn out, and quality drops. Instead of steady progress, chaos takes over. Things slow down, even with more units going through. That’s because building more isn’t enough—you also need to build smarter. That means shifting focus from volume to velocity.
