Communicate with the industry before and after for a smooth and successful process
It goes without saying that the better communicated all factors of a temporary space purchase process are, the better it will be understood by all parties involved. With understanding comes a smooth process, and a positive outcome. At the Modular Building Institute, we strive to inform and educate both School Administrators and Facility Planners before they are faced with the need to purchase temporary space. More importantly, we also have instituted numerous ways for you to communicate with our industry, before, during, and after the purchasing process.

In the past 5 years, MBI has seen a significant increase in the number of portable classrooms being used, due to classroom mandates, funding gaps and a population explosion in most of the U.S. In response to this up-surge, MBI has created its own toolkit of materials that are available to any school district purchaser or facility administrator that are completely free of charge.

Communications Tools Available to You

MBI would like to provide you with the communications tools you need that will help you and any other individuals in your school district have the information they need for three things:

(1) Making a wise purchasing decision
(2) Properly installing your temporary space
(3) Maintaining your temporary space

Indeed, all three factors equally contribute to the success of your temporary space.

To help you be successful, MBI provides several free tools:

  • Primer for Space Planning. This document is a complete overview of the purchasing process. It it is intended to communicate all aspects of the purchase cycle and will quickly get all parties up-to-speed on the ins and outs of the process. The primer contains a checklist of the items you absolutely must consider in making the wisest space choices.

  • Installation Training and Checklist. As the leader in providing education and certification programs, MBI has initiated its own installation and certification training program that will debut in the next year through the University of Pennsylvania. Topics covered in the training are comprehensive and address our industry's concern that modular buildings be installed correctly. When installation fails, environmental hazards arise. Our industry is at the fore-front of insisting on procedures to ensure installation is done properly to provide integrity to the portable itself. Look for more information about this program in the coming year. For purchasers, MBI is providing an installation checklist. It highlights each item that should be verified during the installation process to ensure the best life of the portable, along with an environmentally safe atmosphere in the portable.

  • Continuation of your space. MBI provides background information on all of the items you must consider to keep your temporary space functioning properly throughout the life of its use.
