Modular US Army operations facility opens in El Paso, TexasIn October 2008, the U.S. Army at Fort Bliss, Texas officially opened the first phase of its new combat operations facilities. Comprised of eight separate structures totaling 95,280-sf, the facilities will accommodate administrative functions for the relocation of enlisted personnel including infantry, artillery, and aviation companies. The modular building portion of the project was manufactured and installed by Ramtech Building Systems, Inc. of Mansfield, Texas under a sub-contract with Hensel Phelps Construction Co. All of the modular sections were constructed using Ramtech’s floorless slab-on-grade manufacturing process, constructing each section with five sides and no floor. The building sections were transported on special carrier frames to the job site and crane-set on a traditional concrete slab-on-grade foundation. Every building has been designed to the USGBC LEED silver certification requirements and are constructed to meet Federal HFC and ATFP blast-resistant standards.
