Cal Poly Pomona & MBI to Host
Modular Construction Summit
October 4, 2013, 8:30am-5:30pm
The reality of an expedited schedule and lower costs has made offsite construction a valued building solution for decades. With curiosity about this process at an all-time high as developers turn to the method with growing enthusiasm, the Modular Building Institute will co-host a Modular Construction Summit with Cal Poly Pomona on October 4, 2013, to discuss current topics in modular construction.
Do modular buildings last as long as stick built? Are they environmentally sustainable? Can they be as attractive as their traditionally built counterparts? While the answer to all of these questions is yes, the summit will provide an opportunity for people to find out exactly why – and get answers on many more issues.
The event will feature a morning session of high-profile speakers. In the afternoon, attendees will visit the Silver Creek Industry’s manufacturing facilities. Silver Creek is an award-winning leader in sustainable modular building.
Speakers will include:
- Leo Marmol, FAIA, Managing Principal, Marmol Radziner
- Jinger Zeng, Project Engineer, Team Las Vegas, Solar Decathlon 2013 & Graduate Assistant, Urban Sustainability Initiatives, University of Nevada Las Vegas
- Jonathan Orr, California State Polytechnic University
- Stuart Emmons, Principal, Emmons Modular
- Ryan McIntosh, Director of Design Services, Silver Creek Industries
Open to the general public, the event will take place at Cal Poly in Pomona, California. Registration is $125, $75 for MBI members, and free for students and professors. For complimentary press registration, please contact Tracey Daniels.
