Award Criteria

  1. Architectural Excellence
The customer wanted to replace a dated temporary auxiliary classroom with a structure blending in with the parish's architectural surroundings. Speed was also a requirement. A modular building was supplied with factory hip roof and designed to accept brick facing. Also, windows and doors were matched to the parish's present buildings. It needed to have five classrooms, office and copy room within a limited foot print. Two modules were designed to maximize the available alloted courtyard space.
  2. Technical Innovation & Sustainability
Hip roof design was supplied by the factory and finished on site with minimum site labor. In addition, utilized crawl space to eliminate need for ADA ramp and allowed space for mechanicals. This enabled exterior doors to be on grade. Factory finish allowed for ease of installation of face brick. Modular improved the local building permit approval process. Our system allowed winter installation. All the above improved delivery time from concept to occupancy that conventional systems could not match.
  3. Cost Effectiveness
Specified 2 x 6 studs for increased insulation factors coupled with brick facing provide improved wall insulation factors along with the hip roof design over standard building methods. Furthermore, to increase HVAC efficiency, ducts were installed in the crawl area to improve heating efficiency because of a heated crawl area and floor supply. Speed of modular allowed the school to increase enrollment on very short notice.
