Award Criteria

  1. Architectural Excellence

The Cleveland Cavaliers won! ESPN/ABC required (15) 12 x 60' units in downtown Cleveland fast! They needed them for Operations, Production, Shipping, Host Operations & Productions, Broadcast Ops, Engineering, TV Equipment, Satellite Ops, ITW, ITV, Edit, Credentials, and more. Every trailer was to be squeezed into tight areas close to the Quicken Loans Arena for coverage of the NBA Playoffs. Our upgraded T1-11 units are designed for the office personnel in mind. The exteriors are wood sided with mansards. The interior has carpet, wood interior paneling and 1/2" Vinyl Covered Gypsum to provide an office atmosphere to aid the office personnel in performing their jobs. Due to specific requirement two units needed to joined together with a breezeway.

  2. Technical Innovation

A complex was quickly set-up and was designed to allow personal inter-trailer communications due to platforms between the units. The units had the look and feel of permanent structures. ESPN/ABC was able to flawlessly perform the televising of the finals. They provided the power and ability to operate the production equipment.

  3. Cost Effectiveness/Energy Efficiency

After the games were over the complex required removal within a three day time span. The Cleveland Indians housed next door to Quicken Area needed the space in order to service their fans. The set-up and tear down came off without a hitch. This was due to utilizing structures from our normal rental fleet thereby keeping the customer and Sommer's cost to a minimum.
